WOMENS FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT DAY - 15th November This event is open to all persons with an interest in women’s American football. Any female 18 years of age plus may join the practice session to learn about American football. Coaches and team administrators may attend to observe and share practice. The day will focus on aspects of the full 11 v 11 tackle football format. Equipment will be worn but activities for this day will focus on skills and tactical development. All contact will be controlled as the organisers are very aware that many individuals have commitments to Opal Series teams at present. There will be introductory activity for players new to contact football as well as more advanced activity for experienced players. This day is also designated as a Performance Programme date and players who have achieved previous GB selection should attend (see below). Pre-Notification: To allow the coaches to best prepare for the day, please pre-notify your attendance as soon as possible by sending an email with your full name and date of birth, stating that you will be attending, to: [email protected]. Players will be asked to complete a registration and medical form on the day. Location: The Wooldale Centre Wooldale Road Wootton Northampton NN4 6TP Timings: 10:00 – Arrive, register and change 11:00 – Practice 1 begins 12:30 – Lunch 14:00 – Practice 2 begins 16:00 – Finish and change 17:00 – Debrief 17:15 – Depart Refreshments: Bring your own lunch. There is also a café within the centre that provides sandwiches and snacks etc. Equipment required for players: Essential - • Footwear – suitable for grass field, plus trainers to wear inside the buildings. • T-shirt/sweatshirt to wear under pads • Shorts or trackpants • Gumshield If available - • Football helmet with facecage • Shoulder pads • Football pants with all 7 pieces of leg padding etc. We are able to loan a number of sets of helmets and pads on a first-come basis, but it is advisable to bring equipment if able. Changing: Changing rooms with showers will be available. Player Age Eligibility: All players must be 18 years of age on or before 15th November 2014. Player Experience Levels: We quite expect a variety of different levels of football experience and activity will be matched to suit individual and group ability level. This event is open to any females irrespective of experience level. Insurance and BAFA Membership: (See below) Cost (can be paid on the day): Practice fee payable by all players - £5. (This will include complimentary day BAFA Membership and tackle football insurance for this event). BAFA Women’s Football Performance Programme: Future selection for the Great Britain Women’s Team will be made from players who are part of the Women’s Football Performance Programme. Inclusion in the WFPP is by invitation. All players who have previously represented Great Britain in 2014 are automatically invited. Other players will be invited to join by the GB coaching staff throughout the year. First stage towards selection is attendance of Development Day events at which GB coaches will always be present. The WFPP will include a monitored personal improvement plan for each athlete plus a requirement to attend Performance Programme events. More details will be published soon.
