WONDERS OF INTERCESSORY PRAYERS IN THE BIBLE: b. ABRAHAM CASE: Gen. 18:17-33, And the LORD said, shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do……………………….. In previous chapters, Lot had dispute with Abraham which Abraham resolved with maturity. Judging from what Lot had done, one would have seen Lot as ingrate, selfish, disrespectful and a man without conscience. Abraham took care of him since his father died. Abraham took him from poverty to wealth, now he has been blessed through Abraham. He permitted dispute between his herdsmen and Abraham’s herdsmen. When Abraham gave him opportunity to choose he should have asked Abraham to make the choice first rather he proceeded to make his selfish and unguided decision. Now impending disaster is on the way of Lot, Abraham did not count offence against him, he did not see it as opportunity to revenge, he did not say that is good for him; he interceded for him despite all he had done. What a great love is this? How many father in the Lord will behave like Abraham after bringing up a man from poverty to prosperity he now behave rudely to you, many would have cursed him. When they hear destruction is on the way, what they would have said is that God is fighting for them. They would say; he is reaping the fruit of his evil deed, God catch him etc. but Abraham prayed for him. Lot and his family were saved by one man’s intercession. I pray God that we would have father in the Lord like Abraham. Sodom and Gomorrah would have been saved if not for their sin that is too much. Who knows what your prayer can do for your people and Nigeria? Most messages we receive nowadays are pointing to the nearness of the coming of Christ.
