WOODCOTE/STOKE ROW 3 SANDHURST 1 After a very impressive 5-3 midweek win at Aldermaston on Wednesday evening (goals by Andy Bullett 2, Toby Nowell 2 and Jonny Summers), Woodcote recorded their third consecutive win in less convincing style against Sandhurst on Saturday. Sandhurst proved determined opposition, but they rarely threatened the Woodcote goal, while the home side wasted some very good goalscoring opportunities which could have wrapped-up the game by half time. Dominant from the start, Woodcote were ahead inside 10 minutes when skipper, Jim Hancock headed home from Jake Dillon’s cross, with Dillon perhaps fortunate not to have been adjudged offside. A series of good chances were then missed and only a good save by Darren Russell in the home goal after 20 minutes kept his side ahead. However, the lead was increased to 2-0 when Toby Nowell converted Frank Dillon’s cross, and this time there was some suspicion of handball by Nowell, but the goal stood. Just before half time, it was almost 3-0, but Frank Dillon’s drilled shot was well saved by the Sandhurst keeper. The second half started as the first finished with Toby Nowell bringing a good save out of the keeper, but Sandhurst also began the half brightly and on 52 minutes, reduced the arrears after some very slack defending by Woodcote. The home side hit back but chances continued to go begging with Frank Dillon missing a couple and substitute Jonny Summers failing to convert a rebound after fellow substitute, James Worsfold had hit the post. Finally, however, in the 85th minute the Summers-Worsfold partnership paid off. Frank Dillon was brought down just outside the box and Summers free-kick was headed home by Worsfold. Team. Darren Russell, Ryan Corbett, Andy Bullett, Sam Green, Gareth Evans, Tommy Chapman, James Payne, Jim Hancock, Toby Nowell (Stephane Akmel), Jake Dillon (James Worsfold), Frank Dillon (Jonny Summers).
