WOOLMERS WINNER OF TRIPADVISOR ACCOLADE. Woolmers Foundation, which manages Woolmers Estate, is pleased to announce the award of a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor. It is an award that celebrates ‘Hospitality Excellence Around the World’. This prestigious award is based on the quality of reviews and opinions earned on TripAdvisor over the past few years. “It is nice to know that visitors to Woolmers who take the guided tour of the Archer family homestead, or who stay at the free-settler Colonial Cottages are engaging with and appreciating our unique heritage story”, says Peter Rae, Woolmers Foundation chairman. As one of only eleven World Heritage Listed Convict Sites in Australia that expresses the key aspects of the Australian convict experience that are of outstanding universal value from the point of view of global history, Woolmers, along with Port Arthur, is a focal point for re-visiting Tasmania’s past. “Ourannual Festival of the Roses, held every November is a great celebratory drawcard for Tasmanian families. We had record attendance last year, and have plans to exceed that number this November 16. Tourists from our state and visitors from interstate and overseas obviously find a visit very appealing and we appreciate the stream of compliments which have been made to TripAdvisor.“It shows that we have broad appeal” adds Damian Saunders, General Manager. He believes that building a calendar of new events, such as the first-ever Antiques Fair to be held 7 – 9 November, will put Woolmers firmly on visitors and locals ‘must do’ list; as well as the newly introduced High Tea with a unique historical twist – titled “Wrapped in Guilt”, the story of the Rajah women at Woolmers in the 1840’s, which runs until the end of July. “We have something unique to offer”, says Peter Rae, “and we have plans to make Woolmers an even bigger attraction. As a Not-for-profit, all funds go to the management and maintenance of this World Heritage treasure”.
