WORD ALIVE … Bringing the relevance of God’s Word to our everyday life. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHATEVER THY HAND FINDETH TO DO, DO WITH ALL THY MIGHT (Vol 1; No 103) True servants of God serve with singleness of heart and sincerity of purpose. Whatever their hand findeth to do they do with all their might (Ecclesiastics 9:10). They follow the Biblical injunction which says, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward” (Colossians 3:23-24 NASB). It is not the possession of extraordinary gifts that makes extraordinary service, but the dedication to duty and total commitment to the service unto which God has called us. A servant usually serves with equal dedication the size of the labour or the importance of the work notwithstanding. To the servant the size of the task is irrelevant. Servants are not too important to help with menial tasks. Moses who had the best education at his time and was a prince in the king’s court had to be humbled to tend sheep in the wilderness before he could be used by God to deliver His people. Joseph served in the prison before he was called to serve in the palace. It is actually in small, lowly and elementary tasks that we grow like Christ who humbled Himself and washed the feet of disciples, fixed breakfast for them and attended to small children. Small service often shows a big heart. No service is beneath you when you have a servant’s heart. Service does not diminish you rather it enhances you. Before David could take on gigantic Goliath he had to first overcome the lion and the bear. Before you are promoted to extraordinary service God will first of all see how dedicated you are in the ordinary service.
