WORD ALIVE … Bringing the relevance of God’s Word to our everyday life. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE LORD UPHOLDS ALL WHO FALL AND RAISES UP ALL WHO ARE BOWED DOWN (Vol 2; No 214) Success does not eliminate problem. It may even create more problems. Problem does not mean you are a failure neither does it mean you are a loser. It only shows you are very much alive. Even when you think you have failed, you have not failed totally. Success is failure turned inside out. Learn to make gains out of your losses. What you may consider as failures today are just stepping stones to greater heights. The Bible says that if a just man falls seven times he will still rise again (Proverbs 24:16). The Lord upholdeth all that falleth, and raiseth up all those that bowed down (Psalm 145:14 KJV). The book of Job vividly tells us that bad things can befall a good person, and that the downfall of a man is not the end of his life. In a twinkling of an eye the entire world came crashing down on a single innocent man. It was obvious that nobody suffered more, and nobody deserved it less. In fact, it seemed like the ultimate in unfairness. Unknown to Job, he was caught up in a cosmic test. A contest proposed in heaven but staged on earth. A test of faith, in which the best man on earth, as it were, suffered the worst calamities. Very typical of Jesus’ suffering. God’s reputation was at stake. Would Job continue to trust Him even in the midst of his grievous sufferings? Like all grieving persons, Job went through emotional cycle, but he never gave up. He held onto God. He trusted God. At last he got back all those things he lost in multiple folds (Job 42:12). Some Christians have the impression that suffering is not for them. I wonder where they get such impression. Certainly it is not from the Bible. The Bible says that Jesus suffered leaving us an example to follow in His step (1Peter 2:21). Apostle Paul recounting what they passed through said, “we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NASB). In another place he said, “We all rejoice in our suffering” (Romans 5:23 NIV). The Christian life is not void of problems or suffering. When such problems come we should not allow them to make us bitter, but to make us better. Through such suffering the Lord will lift you up and prove Himself mighty on your behalf. As you look up unto God He will turn those pains you are passing through in your life into gains. Every Christian who wants to grow and become like Christ must pass through the things Christ pass through. The Bible says if we suffer with Him we shall reign with Him. If we deny Him now He will deny us on the day of reckoning. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all,” (Psalms 34:19 NKJV). As you look up unto God you will come out of that affliction a better person IJN.
