(TLB) (4) “And the Lord God said, ‘It isn’t good for man to be alone; I WILL MAKE A COMPANION FOR HIM, a helper suited to his needs.’” Next, family pressure and family’s special interests are other wrong factors that play major roles in deciding who to marry among our young men and women today. Some families subtly put pressure on their children, especially their daughters to get married as soon as possible. The pressure comes in form of constantly and persistently reminding them of their age; of their biological formations which do not favour late marriage, etc. Many ladies have bowed to these pressures and have had themselves to blame. Some other families “arrange” marriages for their children in favour of their own special interests; irrespective of the future of their children. Such arrangements are based on business, socio – cultural, financial interests, friendship, etc. Unfortunately, homes or marriages built on such special interests are already set to fail. No doubt, parental counsels play major roles in the lives of young men and women who are preparing to settle down in marriage; especially, counsels from godly and spirit filled parents. But as beautiful as this is, every young man and woman MUST learn to hear God for him or herself. Counsels from godly parents should be a confirmation and NOT a contradiction to what God has already revealed by His Spirit. And when man’s word contradicts God’s word; all issues must be settled in prayers and the Will of God must prevail. Beloved, bowing to pressure outside of the word and the Will of God will only make you the enemy’s pleasure. Marriage is a life time journey; LET GOD, AND NOT MAN, GO WITH YOU. AMEN.
