WORSHIP SONG for FRIDAY - Anything or anybody being on fire in the physical sense would not be a good thing because fire consumes, destroys and of course can be painful. But as Followers of JESUS we should be and must desire to be ON FIRE and burning brightly for our God. Being ON FIRE for God may seem to be a strange phrase but it can be said to mean the same thing as physical fire. We should be consumed and over run with the PRESENCE of the LORD...as John the Baptist said, we should decrease and HE should increase! We should absolutely seek to destroy the works of the flesh of which the Apostle Paul said, dwells no good thing! And in a good sense we should be willing to suffer some pain for the cause of Christ and feel the pain of those who are going through intense persecution. Yes, being ON FIRE physically is not a good thing but being ON FIRE spiritually should be desired by the Follower of JESUS. King David, who of course had his ups and downs as a Believer said it this way.... Oh God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely. Now, Ive yet to meet this songwriter, King David and I only know him through his words and prayers but when I read portions like this one I would say he was a man after Gods own heart and a man on fire for His Lord! How about you and me?
