WORSHIP SONG for SATURDAY - All people everywhere like to play a little game - one that we learned as kids - its called connect the dots. You know the game, where theres a picture thats missing all the lines and is just a series of dots. When you look at it, you cant really see what it is, until you connect the dots and when you do the picture becomes obvious. Sometimes we like to try to connect the dots in life so when a series of circumstances or things happen or dont happen we want to know the meaning, we want to understand why so we attempt to figure it out and connect the dots so to speak. Now the kids game is easy because the dots connect pretty quickly and then the picture is obvious. But in life, try as we might, we usually cant figure out the meaning to things - there are too many of them, they are too random and in all honesty they just dont make sense. Good things happen to bad people. (did you read about the child molester who won millions in a lottery?) Bad things happen to good people. (Christian persecution) And even in your life and mine, there are things that happen that just seem wrong, stupid, not fair or.....whatever! Try as we might, we cant connect the dots and make meaning out of some things! Fortunately we have an answer to this and its from the ultimate Authority on life....His Name is Almighty God and heres what He has to say on this matter.... My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. God tells us that His wisdom is greater than ours, His knowledge is complete and ours is partial and His plan is eternal and our viewpoint is vastly limited. Our thoughts are incredibly limited and subjective and His are unlimited, all encompassing and His heart is concerned about things of which we have no knowledge. In the Old Testament Book of Deuteronomy, the writer tells us that the secret things belong unto the Lord our God and in the New Testament Book of Romans, we are told that HIS ways are past finding out and that no one can understand the mind of the LORD. So when things happen or dont happen and they cause me doubt, sadness, frustration, anger, depression, anxiety and confusion, my best best is to TRUST the Lord, BELIEVE that HE is in control, REPENT if necessary, put my FAITH in HIM and just move forward, day by day and sometimes minute by minute, breath by breath. In the 40 years of being a Follower of JESUS I certainly have not always done this but when I do it is so much better and when I walk humbly with my God, I can then say, It is well with my soul! Easy? NO! Impossible? NO because Gods POWER is available and FAITH comes through the Word of God. So, if youre in one of those connect the dots phases of life, put the pencil down and let HIM handle the artwork!
