WORSHIP SONG for SUNDAY - Today, most of us who identify ourselves as Followers of JESUS will get up, get ready and go to church. I know we all say that but its technically not correct. We dont GO to church....we ARE the church! The place where we will go and gather is merely the meeting place of the living organism called, the church. And according to the Bible, the Believers who make up the church are also referred to as the BODY OF CHRIST with JESUS Himself being our head. As His Body, we function as His hands and feet and as such we do His bidding in the world. What an incredible privilege and honor it is to be considered by God Almighty to be HIS Church and the Body of His Son, JESUS! This is a high and holy calling that has high honor attached to it but also bears the weight of great responsibility! How are we representing Him? How are we conducting ourselves in a manner befitting the Church and the Body of Christ? Are we, as a local congregation, serving HIM in unity? Do we love the other members of the Body? Are we a Light to a dark and sinful world? And are we obedient to His Revelation, the Bible, the Word of God? Sobering questions to ask! Some churches are no more than social clubs or venues of Christian entertainment. Some are places so devoid of the Presence of the LORD, that the term church shouldnt be applied to them even though their building looks like a church. Sad but true! But fortunately, and by the grace of God there are congregations all over the world that live out the call as the Body of Christ and the Church of Almighty God. These Believers love God, heed His Word, love one another, reach out to a lost world, live honest lives, engage in productive endeavors, refrain as much as possible from sin, shining for Jesus in an increasingly dark world. A song by Casting Crowns asked this question, so if we are the Body, why arent His arms reaching and why arent His hands healing, why arent His words teaching? Questions we, as the Body of Christ need to ask ourselves as we gather for worship today because we are HIS Church!
