WORSHIPERS OF A NEW DEITY One of the most simple and profound lessons in the field of management, is: ‘’what we measure, is what we improve’’. The lesson speaks to the importance of METRICS. I am convinced that the road to Hell is paved with the wrong metrics. When we take a deep look at our lives, are we ‘’measuring’’ the right things? Gurus in the field of self –help, say: ‘’what we concentrate on, grows’’. Are we paying attention to the right things? Are they properly ordered? Is our scale of preferences, properly structured? We are SPIRITS. It is a pathetic commentary on our evolution that we have elevated the MATERIAL to the status of a deity, and we now use it as a measure of our value! We are all reaping the reward.
