BUT EVEN IF HE DOES NOT, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17-18 NIV) BUT EVEN IF HE DOES NOT… Theres a saying that we praise God for what He has done for us but we worship Him for who He is. What this means is that whether He ever does anything for us or not (which is impossible anyway), that does not affect who He is. He is still God and by His very nature deserves our worship. However, when we dont always get what we want, we tend to get this funny attitude. Some of us even go as far as to stop going to church. We tend to try and threaten God by saying “if you don’t do this for me, me and You are over but Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego decided to act differently. They basically told King Nebuchadnezzar that we are not worshiping God for what He does for us. Even if He does not rescue us from this fire we are about to enter, we are not bowing down to another god. End of story. But I like that God is a loving father. Theres no way He would leave us to burn just because He wants to see if we would still worship Him. He came through for them and the beauty of the story is that those that did not acknowledge who God is... those that said lets see... what god will be able to rescue you from my hand (Daniel 3:15 NIV) had no choice but to change their minds. Nebuchadnezzar... shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God... (Daniel 3:26 NIV). Oh really? So you now acknowledge He is the Most High God? God is God and yes out of frustration I once used to get an attitude when things were not going my way but I had to quickly remind myself that He is still God and no situation changes who He is. That is when my spirit immediately takes over and begins to worship God and the conflict between my state of mind and how I worship God sometimes baffles me but that is how I really got to understand why your flesh and soul cannot worship God. Our emotions tend to be all over the place but... God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality) (John 4:24 AMP).
