WOULD THIS 7th NASS UTILISE AMIDST THIS HEATED POLITY THE CONSTITUTION AMMENDMENT PUBLIC SESSION RESULTS?CONCISE EXCERPS FROM THE PUBLIC SESSIONS :The Ad-hoc Committee on Constitution review employed the services of six consultants drawn from the geo-political zones for the purposes of collation. The chief consultant, Mr. Clement Nwankwo gave the synopsis of the result at the event. Highlights of the results presented include: • Support for amending immunity provision for Federal and State Executives to cover only civil proceedings while in office • Rejection of the rotation of the office of the President among the six geo- political zones • Acceptance of creation of more states • Acceptance of financial autonomy/ independence for State Houses of Assembly • Acceptance of autonomy for Local Government Areas • Acceptance of independent candidacy in elections.!BJ
