WOULD YOU ENJOY MAKING A BOYS DREAM COME TRUE? In April of this year my sister, Kelen, and her grandson, Rylan, who has four diagnosed behavioral disorders, found his dream school together. The Vanguard School is a unique facility where the program is designed to help students achieve behavioral and academic success. After being unable to remain in several public and several private schools due to his behavioral control challenges, a special school is indeed required. The greatest challenge they faced for Rylan to attend The Vanguard School, which has only 150 students, a 4 to 1 student teacher ratio, specially designed facilities, doctors and counselors on duty, and academic and boarding costs, was that the price for one year of attendance is $44,000. With only her faith and determination to make her grandsons dream a reality, and her finances already nearly exhausted from paying for all of Rylans medical care, my sister made a commitment to the school that she would come up with the money. Now, 10 days from the start of the Fall semester on September 2nd, $39,031 of the $44,000 has been raised and only $4,969 remains. My sister secured a State of Florida grant and a school scholarship for Rylan.
