WOULD YOU LIKE TO RAISE YOUR CHILD THE FRENCH WAY? Pamela Druckerman will discuss her book, Bringing Up Bebe: One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting, on Wednesday, October 8 at 7 pm at Books & Co. at The Greene, 4453 Walnut Street, Beavercreek. When Druckerman, an American journalist, had a baby in Paris, she didn’t aspire to become a “French parent.: But she noticed that French children slept through the night by two or three months old, were good and varied eaters, well-behaved, and independent. She found that French parents are extremely strict about some things and strikingly permissive about others. The result is children who are just as boisterous, curious, and creative as Americans but, in her opinion, far better behaved and more in command of themselves. The book strikes a happy medium between the French way and her own parenting preferences, offering 100 French parenting tips and recipes for the whole family. It is considered deeply wise and charmingly told. Pamela Druckerman is a former staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal, where she covered foreign affairs. She has also written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Marie Claire, and appeared on the Today Show and NPR’s Morning Edition. Her previous book Lust in Translation was translated into eight languages. She lives in Paris. For an interview, please contact Tessa Meischeid at 212-366-2808 or [email protected].
