WOW! 2,700+ Rabies vaccinations were given at 8 locations in St. Joe County on the 28th of September. A special thank you goes to Dr. Rachael Sparke, Dr. D along with 5 staff members from Roseland Animal Hospital for giving up their Sunday afternoon to man one of the stations at the Rabies Clinic. Community service is a compliment to the leadership at these hospitals for their generous donation of time to help those in need. Westen Veterinary Clinic sent two doctors, Dr. Chris Payton and Dr. Culp who were at some of the busiest stations and were cheerful and intent to help our community animals. Dr. Brungart from Syracuse, Dr. Buchs from So Bend Animal Clinic, Dr. Porter from Granger Animal Clinic and Dr’s Candy and Covey from Kryders were awesome to work all afternoon. These doctors took time out of their day off to help so many people. A special thank you to the many volunteers who helped make this event a huge success. We appreciate all of you for your time. We have many volunteers who help on various events, without them we would not be able to be successful. A special thanks to my staff who always come through. They served at each site, managing volunteers, helping doctors and working with the recipients of the vaccination clinics. Most people were nice and patient. We at the shelter are dedicated to World Rabies Day to eradicate rabies. Our mission, like the veterinarians that help us is dedicated to Public Health, Animal Welfare and compassion to those not so fortunate to be able to vaccinate their animals elsewhere. We have had a rabies positive bat in St Joe County recently that affected a cat that was indoors and had not been vaccinated. We encourage everyone to vaccinate their animals yearly or get a 3 year vaccine at your veterinarians. THANKS A MILLION!!!!- Dr. Carol Ecker, Executive Director
