WOW; HAD to share this review of Padman from Amazon Dianna Dell Stroud Christine Frasier Sandra Burtch-Frollo Laura DeVille-Sherman in particular, please read the review, ESPECIALLY Di and L.D. #unbelievablefeeling and Go Blue! :) ... Well, if this book doesnt lead your emotions all over the place I dont know what would! Im not sure I know a person who couldnt relate to something in this gem. New parent? Cancer patient or SUPPORTER? TBI survivor? Or just a human being with a heart. Now days its a sad truth that everyone knows somebody who is or has fought cancer. I personally have several family members who have survived and a few that have not made it past this horrible disease. Yet, I had never thought much of the role of supporter. To me it was family and family counts on each other. I had never thought of possible c-word(Authors word) patients not receiving the love & support they needed. I have thought about it now. New parent woes! The story of a fresh from the oven baby girl basically running the show over her new first time daddy is priceless. Finally! A man who admitted out loud(or rather in print) that he felt disappointed in the news of a girl coming and not a boy. Of course later he cant imagine anything other then the daughter he was blessed with. I love the honesty and of course the humor in the fatherhood stories. First diaper changes, boyfriends to the Padman tales are truly priceless. As a woman I never thought twice about what purchasing these products. Buying them for a woman-especially a daughter had the power to do to a grown man. Boy-oh-boy does Mr. Elswick paint a picture you can see clearly. I will never look at the term with wings the same way again. Traumatic brain injury can and does happen all the time but like everything you dont think about it until youre a part of it. This I also know personally through a family member. My cousin will never be the same but I thank God hes come back from it as much as he has. Reading Brookes story touched me as a mother. The Authors suggestion of re-reading the sentence Would you like to kiss your daughter good bye? Instant waterworks and wrenches the heart like no other. I cannot imagine what her family went through or how her mother made it past that one short sentence about her little girl. Yet, another inspirational story I will not forget and I wish only the best for this courageous family. This book had me entertained but snuck in stories that give a person hope. Also, makes a person think of what would you do in these situations and what CAN you do even without any of these scenarios dropped in your lap. Im very happy I read this and I will be making sure family and friends add this to their must read list. Ohhhh.....and of course thank you Mark Elswick for sharing your story with us as well as bringing us the others. You my dear have got me thinking of what more I could do-actually what more I should do.
