(WGNO) - The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says one man is now dead and another injured in what they’re calling a violent domestic situation. Deputies say at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday 44-year-old Bobby Elder of Metairie showed up at a home on the 9000 block of Sharla Drive in River Ridge. Investigators say it’s the home his ex-girlfriend, Karen Collins, was in with her current boyfriend. Deputies say Elder made his way inside the home and ordered the woman and her boyfriend out of bed at gun point. Reports show Karen Collins was able to escape and call for help from a neighbors home. Meanwhile investigators say Collins’ current boyfriend, Robert Esteves, was able to get a shotgun and gun down Bobby Elder killing him at the front door during a shootout. Reports show Esteves was shot in the arm and has been treated. No charges have been filed at this time.
