WOW ! WOW ! WOW ! WOW ! WOW ! (etc.) I have been waiting years and years and years and years to see this and now its finally been uploaded to YouTube. It is a shortened version of Pirates that the DOyly Carte Opera Company performed on American television during their 1955 American tour. I havent watched it fully myself yet as Im already very familiar with the soundtrack but Im very much looking forward to seeing it all in a moment. What I couldnt resist, though, was watching the overture as I felt sure from my knowledge of the soundtrack that it must show Goddie conducting AND IT DOES. This is the only film known to exist of Goddie conducting and I personally think that its a REVELATION !!! This will seriously make a huge different to my future listenings of the recordings he headed. He is totally animated and with it whereas for some reason Id never ever imagined that this was his style. Im thrilled already just from this, so what will I be like in 45 minutes time after Ive seen the whole company !! (I issued the soundtrack on a CD years ago DOyly Carte Rarities - at the time of the broadcast someone commissioned a recording studio to record it off-air, very likely to reel-to-reel tape, but as few people had home tape players, but most people had record players, they then cut the sound from the tape to an acetate disc.)
