WOW! What a fantastic turn-out at the “Opiate Knowledge Night”, organized by Town Councilor/BCYC Board Member Michael Owens and Board Member Roger Medeiros! Over 274 people were in attendance, and their ages spanned the generations. Speakers included pharmacist Dave Morgan, now an opiate specialist with the Norfolk County district attorney’s office; Braintree parent Tom Ardette, whose daughter died from an overdose; former addict Kerry Breenan-White; and Lindsay Sheehan, a recovering addict who is in Quincy District Court’s drug court program. The program was further enhanced by other speakers, who raised questions, talked about their own experiences or those of their loved ones, or reported on the legislative efforts to combat this opioid epidemic. Kudos to the BCYC, Community Partnership on Substance Abuse, and the Ryan Thompson Foundation for sponsoring this event!
