WOW! What fun! I did my first crit bike race in 20 yrs today and had a great time! It was a full day of racing down at the Capitol! My vote for next year is: *food trucks and *microbrew tent! MAKE IT A DOWNTOWN PARTY! A NONSTOP PARADE! Like a Gran Prix thats sustainable and low-overhead. ...And *somehow tying in with local biz to create a really boom day for them biz-wise. Get all the Washington St bars with tables on the sidewalks to PUMP UP the bike race crowd. Offer bike-race specials and such. Sat during the day is dullsville downtown. LETS TURN THAT AROUND! ... Maybe a live broadcast on LCC Radio would be helpful -- that the bars could tune into -- with music and commentary together -- so patrons along the route can tune in and follow the action. ? Lets turn Lansing downtown bike racing into the new Athens Twilight Crit that has 100,000 people! Id be psyched to see even 1000 -- and so would the businesses downtown!
