WPD Investigating Recent Robbery of Lincoln Street Commerce Bank Worcester, MA (September 29, 2014) - On Monday September 29, 2014 at approximately 11:40 AM, Worcester police responded to 451 Lincoln Street, Commerce Bank and Trust, for a reported hold up alarm. Upon the officers arrival they met with bank employees. According to one of the tellers, a male entered the bank wearing sunglasses and a tight fitting skull cap. This male walked directly to the teller counter. A teller was about to ask the male to remove the glasses and hat when he passed a note. The note demanded cash and threatened harm if they did not comply. The male took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank on foot. The suspect was described as a black male, mid-twenty to early thirties, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall, slim build, wearing jeans and a grey sweater. The suspect was seen running behind the nearby Gulf gas station located across the street from the bank. Numerous police officers searched the area along with the assistance of MSP. A MSP K-9 unit responded to the scene as well. Several reports of the suspect’s direction of travel were reported. A large area was searched by numerous law enforcement officers. The search subsequently provided negative results. Investigators are not sure at this time if this robbery is linked to the Shrewsbury Street Digital Federal Credit Union robbery that occurred on September 22, 2014. Investigators are currently reviewing security footage. Members of the Crime Scene Unit arrived and are processing evidence. Investigators transported witnesses to police headquarters for interviews.
