WPD Investigating Two Shooting Incidents Worcester, MA (August 31, 2014) - Worcester police responded to two separate shooting incidents early this morning. At approximately 2:28 AM officers responded to U-Mass Memorial Hospital for a report of a 15-year-old male who walked into the emergency room suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg. The male victim was accompanied by two friends. The victim and his friends provided conflicting stories with regard to the circumstances leading up to the shooting as well as the location that the shooting allegedly took place. Members of the detective bureau arrived at the hospital and attempted to interview the three. The males were uncooperative to the investigators and refused to provide any specific information. A crime scene has not been located at this time. At approximately 2:50 AM, police responded to the area of 111 Dorchester Street for a report of a shooting. Upon the officers arrival they discovered that two males were shot. One male, 16-years-old, was shot in the leg while another male, 19-years-old, was injured as a bullet grazed his side. Both males were transported to U-Mass Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Evidence at the scene suggested that there was possibly an exchange of gunfire between two groups. Witnesses informed the officers that multiple shots were fired. No other injuries were reported. Investigators do not believe that these incidents are related at this time.
