WRC Update- Last night Wyoming Refining Company had a fire shortly after midnight. The fire started following a power outage that included the cities of Newcastle and Upton around 11:57 p.m. on Thursday. According to Wyoming Refining Co. Vice-President Mike Farnsworth, the fire was in a N-H-T unit. The Newcastle Fire Department was called in for backup and law enforcement provided traffic control. The fire was put out in about 20 minutes. According to Farnsworth, the cause of the fire was likely a ruptured tube in the N-H-T unit, although an investigation is ongoing and the extent of damage is unknown. The plant is expected to be offline for approximately 48 hours. No injuries occurred as a result of this fire.
