(WRCB) - The hot muggies are coming to town! This week will be the hottest so far this year! A very stagnant weather pattern will settle in for at least 7 days, probably longer. A large bubble of warm air will settle in this week and the jetstream will keep most of the storms to the north of us. Some of those storms will turn severe with heavy rain. But for us we only see a few isolated storms mainly in the Blue Ridge mountains for the next few days. Highs for Tuesday through next Sunday will be in the 90s. Some of the maximum temperatures will be in the mid 90s with lows in the upper 60s to near 70. Normal highs are in the upper 80s and normal lows are in the mid to upper 60s. Humidity levels will remain high, too. This will let the heat index rise into the upper 90s! So stay cool and check up on the elderly this week! By the weekend we may see a few more showers and storms in the afternoon and evening hours. along with highs in the upper 80s to near 90. Download the WRCB weather app for the latest.
