WRITING GRANT PROPOSAL: I know a lot of you are considering applying for federal, local and state grants(yes they are all different). Depending on the grants that you are applying for, every one has different guidelines. Example the Ford Foundation,(fordfoundation.org/grants/organizations-seeking-grants) has their guidelines, the Federal Government has theirs(grants.gov/web/grants/applicants/grant-eligibility.html) and so forth. It would depend on your organization directive and the type of funding you are needing. There are grants for individuals but they are scarce, but there are. They typically are are classified as scholarships. But there are grants for EVERYTHING. The The Grantsmanship Center(tgci/funding.shtml) offers lots of information as well as workshops, grant resource info, help writing the grants and all kinds of stuff. Yes you can pay someone but I wouldnt. I think there are enough resources out there for you can educate yourself. Also, you want to be involved in the process and be able to familiarize yourself with how its done, so YOU can make it how YOU want it and know what your doing and how YOU want your funding allocated. There are private grants as well. And remember grants dont have to be paid back you just have to comply with the terms of the grant. Remember also, the if at any point you are to apply for a federal grant they will require you to get a Dunn and Bradstreet number. Its free, so just in case, even if you dont think you will use right now, its better to be ready than try and get ready. I listed a link below that gives you a sample of a grant proposal to give you an idea of whats needed. This one is very basis and not very complex but will help you familiarize yourself with what they are typically looking for.
