WSC Week 19 Open WODs 14.1 is complete! We saw 40 of our athletes participate, completing as many rounds and reps as possible of 30 Double Unders and 15 Power Snatches in ten minutes. By being committed to performing in a worldwide competition, our athletes improved on the Double Under, with some athletes achieving personal records for number of reps in a row! Thanks to our in-house video system, all of our athletes performances have been recorded, ensuring integrity of our judging and scoring. Week 19 sees us finishing up Open WOD 14.2. The Chest to Bar Pull Ups in 14.2 are very challenging. Even though we have worked on them in the programming often, some of our athletes remain weak in this area. We need to address this skill in our training so we can eliminate this weakness. In news outside of the Open, many of our athletes scored new PRs on Grace in Week 18. We have been focusing in greater detail on the Olympic lifts as well as increasing weight, and it has really paid off! Great job! We are closer to having a solid base for an effective O-Lifting program. The variety in Warm Up routines seems to be working. We spent many months establishing these routines so that we could get to this point. Adding variety to the instructor-led Cool Downs has been successful as well. Working with rubber bands, lacrosse balls, foam rollers, and using the wall in different ways keeps this task exciting and more effective. We are putting a hold on Sunday Strongman & Kid’s classes. Hopefully you guys enjoyed it; we have learned a ton in the last 10 weeks of running each. There are plans to re-introduce each in the future when we can better accommodate each with proper space. We are planning to start running monthly park WOD’s and building an Saturday morning Olympic lifting class.
