WTF.... am I understanding this correctly?.... For the EU ruling on data retention, the Dutch government says local law still applies. But for the EU ruling on downloading copyrighted material, the EU law goes into immediate effect. Furthermore, does this mean that Dutch citizens no-longer have to pay the € tax levy by Brein on CDs, DVDs and Harddrives to compensate artists for their materials which can no longer be downloaded in the Netherlands? Why do I suspect this later legislation will stay in place?
