WTTG TV Fox 5, WDCA My20 & MyFoxDC November 20, 2013 Sports Producer (Regular Full-Time): Selects stories, assembles them in a rundown, creates graphics, writes and copy edits the stories and coordinates on-air presentations. Responsible for maintaining a constant dialog with viewers on various social media platforms and in supporting station’s online sports presence through creative articles, web polls, pictures, blogs and social media posts. Sports producer will ensure sports segments and shows meet live production deadlines and standards of production. Participate in the editorial process that leads to story assignments both in news and in the world of sports. Occasionally produces content in the field and may serve as on-air talent to present story. Will also be required to perform basic videography and non-linear editing functions. Other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications. Have exceptional news judgment, strong writing and copy editing abilities. Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and assemble content. Must be able to work in fast paced environment under specific time constraints; exceptionally creative. Must be able to think out of the box and find new ways to present information. Must be self-motivated and work effectively independently and on a team. Supervise the work of others. Possess three (3) years of newsroom experience, preferably as a Line Producer. Weekends, holidays and varied hours req. Responsible for taking the show into the Control room and time it to include commercial breaks. Must participate in the Editorial process which leads to story assignments. Occasionally produce content in the field and/or long form stories for Air. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Comms req. Three (3) yrs of newsroom exp. Have exceptional news judgment, strong writing and copy editing skills. Strong communication skills; ability to develop and assemble content in an understandable fashion. Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced news environment. Live ENG remote skills and experience req, including ENG truck operation and field editing: Sat truck exp a plus. Excellent photography, lighting, audio, non-linear editing, and computer skills required. Weekends, holidays, travel & varied hours required. HS diploma req, college degree pref. Proficiency w/ newsroom computers and related software req. Must also demonstrate experience and proficiency with news technology and newsroom computers. Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are essential. Prior experience with newsroom systems is preferred. News Writer: (PT Temp) News Writer to write VO and VO/SOT packages for assigned news programs. The writer will assist the producers in the preparation of the newscast, selecting stories and assigning production personnel. The writer will assist with story development and select file and feed video. A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field and two years prior news writing or producing experience is required. Major market news experience is preferred. Ability to work well under strict deadlines, and the ability to work flexible hours and shifts is essential. Proven creative writing and interpersonal skills are also required.
