*** WWE Summerslam 2014 Complete Results + Notes *** * Kickoff Match: Rob Van Dam defeated Cesaro in an entertaining Kickoff Match. Cesaro managed to dominate the match and RVD tried several times to come back until he managed to hit Cesaro with a spinning kick followed by the Five Star Frog Splash for the victory. * Hulk Hogan opens Summerslam to massive cheers and promotes the WWE Network. * WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dolph Ziggler beat The Miz to become the new Intercontinental Champion. Very good opening match which saw a lot of back and forth and false finishes. Late in the match The Miz nailed Ziggler with the Skull Crushing Finale for a close 2 count! Ziggler then dodges a boot to the head and hits Miz with a Zig Zag for the win. * WWE Divas Championship: Paige defeated AJ Lee to become the new Divas Champion. Paige managed to counter a Black Widow submission and turn it into a modified DDT to get her 2nd Divas Championship. (Rumors are now spreading online that AJ will soon be leaving the company to start a family with CM Punk. Nothing is official yet.) * Flag Match: Rusev (with Lana) defeated Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter). Late in the match, Rusev manage to fight out of a Patriot Lock and locks Swagger in The Accolade. Swagger didnt tap out but passes out, forcing the referee to call the bell and award the victory to Rusev. After the match, Zeb goes in the ring and checks on the unconscious Jack Swagger. Rusev kicks him in the head and knocks him unconscious. Lana and Rusev stand tall in the ring while a huge Russian Flag was raised while the Russian national anthem was played. * Lumberjack Match: Seth Rollins beat Dean Ambrose in an crazy Lumberjack match. A lot of brawl happening during the match with the lumberjacks and theres this big spot where Ambrose jumps on Rollins and all the Lumberjacks outside the ring. Late in the match, Dean hit Seth with his own finisher, the Curb Stomp. Kane gets in and breaks the 2 count. Another brawl transpired in the ring. After the chaos settled down, Dean managed to send Luke Harper and Erick Rowan outside of the ring. However once he turns around, Seth Rollins blasts him with the MITB briefcase and pins him for the victory. * Bray Wyatt defeated Chris Jericho in a good back and forth match. A lot of mind games during the match. Late in the fight, Y2J nailed Bray with the Codebreaker for a close 2-count. They went outside the ring and fought until Bray nailed Y2J with a Sister Abigail on the barricades. Wyatt sends jericho back in the ring and nails another Sister Abigail for the win. * Stephanie McMahon defeated Brie Bella in an entertaining Divas match (better than Aj and Paige I must say). Late in the match, Brie managed to put Steph in the Yes Lock, but Triple H pulls the referee from the ring before Stephanie could tap out. Brie hits a baseball slide onto HHH to knock him down. Nikki Bella came down to the ring and stood between Brie and Stephanie. Nikki acts as if she was to hit Stephanie but hits Brie instead and leaves. Stephanie smirks and hits Brie with the Pedigree for the win. * Roman Reigns defeated Randy Orton in a fantastic back and forth match. Late in the match, Orton nails Reigns with an RKO for a 2 count. A shocked and frustrated Orton calls for the punt to the head, but Reigns managed to avoid it and then catapults himself into a Spear on Orton for the win. * WWE World Heavyweight Championship Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) defeated John Cena to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Lesnar totally dominated 90% of the match with Cena trying to make comebacks here and there. Lesnar wouldnt allow any of it. When all is said and done, Lesnar hits him with an F5 to conquer Cena and become the new WWE Champion! Summerslam ends with Lesnar and Heyman proudly walking to the back with the two title belts. Notes: * Very entertaining show as a whole with very good matches and story-telling all throughout the evening. I would give it a 9.5/10. Almost perfect, just needed something historic and unforgettable aside from Lesnar being champion. But it was a damn good show all in all. * The Los Angeles crowd was very much into the whole show which added to the shows quality. * All 3 titles that were on the line in the evening changed hands. * John Cena is now 4 wins and 7 losses in his Summerslam matches, not a very friendly PPV for Cena. * It will be interesting how often Brock Lesnar will appear in WWE TV considering he is the new Face of the company. * Match of the evening would be the insane Lumberjack match between Rollins and Ambrose. I also thought that Brie and Stephanie gave a highly notable match. * I went 5 ouot of 9 for my predictions which is not bad considering how much I suck at predicting matches. ***************************
