WWII ruined Britain and helped the US to get out of the dreadful - TopicsExpress

WWII ruined Britain and helped the US to get out of the dreadful recession of the 1930s. Both WWI and II aided the US economy in that they stimulated industry and mass production to a vast extent. This, I believe is generally accepted in modern economics (but feel free to comment to the contrary). The crippling cost of war in Iraq and Afghanistan (and Vietnam before them) is an issue I would like to hear expert comment about. Wars increase lending, lending leads to interest payments, those tend to hit the tax payer negatively, but the lenders very positively. Thus, by my logic lenders have an interest in war as do many manufacturers. The former are far less visible, though.
