WWN Reflection 01.09.2015: Women and Youth in Africa have a pivotal role to play in transforming the continent. The time is ripe for us to begin to focus on the power of small groups and/or communities to ignite the fire of sustainable change. Start small and then scale up! Integrate the bottom-up and top-down approaches. The current status quo is often that we watch passively, sit on the sidelines and point fingers at our leaders. We forget that leaders do not exist in a vacuum. We, collectively, create the society that births and shapes them. They are not invincible. In fact, no leader is strong enough to withstand the unified, strident and persistent WILL of the people. The more corrupt the leadership, the more cowardly the leaders often are. We can be peaceful and yet forceful. Our future is at stake and only we can change the existing systems and structures. Use your resources, voice, talents, skills, networks and RISE to the challenges of personal leadership and accountability.
