Wachinyeya Fest is a music festival set for July 18th-19th on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation to promote healing & hope among the youth of the tribe. Wachinyeya is Lakota Sioux for hope. And hope is what we so desperately need here on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. Children should not be hanging themselves. People should not be getting murdered. Rape & molestation should not be such a familiar thing to so many women & children. Parents should not be too drunk to pay attention to their kids. Teenagers should not be afraid to go home at night. The streets should not be safer than the walls of ones home. And yet, all of these things are sadly true, and do happen. You might wince while reading this, you might even mutter how awful. But will you be moved enough to want to make a difference? This summer, we are holding a music festival. We are fighting BACK against the pain and the negativity and the devil himself with our loud music & our united voices in the form of the very first annual Wachinyeya Fest. Speakers, bands, solo musicians & skate teams from ALL over the United States are traveling to be a part of this movement to come around the kids & teens of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation and tell them not just with our words, but with our actions, You are NOT alone. There IS hope. Suicide is NOT the answer. If you are a band, speaker, artist, etc. that loves to share a positive message and the incredible news that is the Gospel, good news!
