Wait A Minute... James tells us that the trying of our faith produces patience. Is James telling us that our trials are teaching us to wait? Shouldn’t what we go through teach us revenge, anger and bitterness? Why would we need to learn patience? Let’s be honest…does patience come natural for any of us? Absolutely not!!! We come into this world screaming, “Get Me Out Of Here”!!! LOL!!! Seriously though, everything in our lives pushes us to rush and hurry. Something seems to always be getting ready to start. We need to get this done or finish that task. We’re just busy people always in a hurry. When a trial come our way, our first response is, hopefully this won’t last long. Then, when it’s over, many times we’re upset at someone or something. We can even feel like certain things were completely unfair. I could continue to write about how we feel when our storms and trials are over, but truth is, James says the purpose is to teach us patience. Just wait or pause, take a break, a time out…chill. No matter what you go through, don’t react to soon. Sometimes it takes a while to understand the trial we just went through. Truthfully, there are some things we go through, we may never understand. Whether you realize it or not, what you’re going through or what you’ve already come through is trying to get you to wait for a while. Responding too soon could cause you tremendous problems. It can even affect relationships including family. I’ve seen it destroy marriages. You may think nothing is happening when you’re in a pause, but I promise you, God is working while you’re waiting. You may not see it or feel it, but He is working things out for you good. The farmer knows when he plants the seed that beneath the surface something is going on and in his patience he waits for harvest. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. You have to learn to sleep through the night. Rest, wait, be patient, because in time, everything is going to be alright. Whether you understand or not, during your patience you will gain a new perspective. I’ll let you fill in the blanks for your life and whatever you may be going through. Let me end my blog with a scripture that I’m sure you have already thought about. Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
