Waiting In the Morning Breeze – special novel written by Janrae Ichi – Everyone Has Dreams “My lady, wake up…,” says the chambermaid which awoke Kaori from her sweet sleep. “Has the rain stopped now…?” Kaori asked, groaned from waking and rubbed her eyes. “Yes my lady, it seems that it was yesterday’s midnight when it became still…” She was relieved on what she heard. Now she can go to her favorite place. She smiled and rose up from the bed and stretched both her hands. “Thanks, Ma’am…” she thanked the chambermaid. “Please, my lady, I am just your servant on this mansion, I am not worthy to be called ma’am. I prefer to be called upon by name if you wish…” the chambermaid replied. “It is better than calling you out on your name or calling you servant. Besides, when I was just a baby, daddy said you were the ones who helped him on taking care of me since mommy died. You are even my mommy’s best friend…right? So, let me call you ma’am…because I consider you a part of the family too…” The joyful young Kaori, even though in her small age understood things that were to be noticed by a child. She hurriedly went into the bathroom and took a shower. She got changed afterwards and hurriedly asked the driver of the mansion to take her to the place where she wanted to go. The green grasses and cold wind welcomed her as she embraced the wind on the mountain where she went. She smiled when she felt the heat of the sun and the cold wind mixed within the place making it very special. The ray of the sun’s light battled with the leaves of the trees and produced thin rays of light towards her location. It was not long when the birds started to be chirping along the place. As the wave of water splashes on the river and strikes the big rocks, the rays of light from the sun lightened up the splashes of the river’s water and were like crystals that were so precious in a human’s sight. No wonder, the young Kaori loved the place. “Mr. Keitaro, the camera…!” she called to the driver. The family driver happily hurried to the car and took the digital camera from the driver’s seat. He hurried to where Kaori was and took photos of the beautiful place. “Thanks Mr. Keitaro, I don’t know how to operate the camera so I asked you to. Could you please teach me…?” she asked. The driver was so embarrassed to, because he knew he was just the driver of the house and he must not be taking to the masters of the house so much. He could not resist the happy face of the child and promised to teach her. Kaori happily raised her hand because of happiness and started to run throughout the place. Keitaro started to enjoy the place. It is truly a place where shows the mighty creator’s power to create places that human can never do. When Kaori was tired, she started to walk and approached Keitaro who was standing on the big cherry blossom tree watching her. “Is there anything I can do for you, my lady…?” he asked. “Could you carry me to the car…? I am tired…let’s go home, Mr. Keitaro…” He was shocked. He knew that only Kaori’s father has the right to carry her on his back, to show the love of a father to a child, yet, Kaori herself asked him too. “But my lady, your father is the only one who could, I am not your father…I am just a driver of the mansion…” Kaori analyzed Keitaro’s eyes. Kaori’s eyes were showing sadness which started to sadden her once happy face. She turned to the river. “My father…it was so long he never carried me on his back…I miss my father…that I really like…” she replied. It’s true. Keitaro used to see Mr. Rudolph Hasegawa carry his daughter Kaori on his back and they played on the mansion’s flower garden. After a crisis happened to the Hasegawa Corporation and Mr. Rudolph was forced to recover from the crisis, he focused his attention on the business and the marketing sales, forgetting his responsibility for Kaori. “I want him to carry me again…but it seems father has forgotten those days anymore. Please Mr. Keitaro, carry me to the car and let’s go home…” she pleaded. Keitaro didn’t refuse anymore, for he understands her situation. As he carries her on his back, the happiness started to grow upon Kaori’s face. “Thank you Mr. Keitaro…can you be my second father…?” she asked, as she started to close her eyes, tired and got asleep after visiting her favorite place. Keitaro wasn’t able to answer in his shock of what he heard. Even though without another word from Kaori, he knew surely that Kaori would ask him again once she wakes up. He smiled because of his honored position, if it is the master’s wish, then it would be so. The next day, Kaori and her father had the breakfast together. The maids have prepared the meals quite very delicious and Rudolph felt delight of the taste. “The maids have mastered my taste of foods…what can you say Kaori…?” he asked his daughter. Kaori took her last spoon of the food before she answered. Its delicious father…!” she replied. She looked at the maids who were very happy of the result. “Miss Aira, can I request something?” she asked from one of the maids. Aira, one of the maids replied, “Anything for the masters of this house…” “Can you call Mr. Keitaro and the chambermaid Ma’am Adelfa for me…? The rest of the maids…sit down on the empty chairs here in the table…” Rudolph anticipated her. The maids were wondering what to do, because normally, a maid is not suited to sit on the dining table to eat if they are with the masters. They are noted to eat in the table of the kitchen. “Go on…you can sit…” Rudolph said unto them. They didn’t refuse and humbly sat on each of the chairs for them. After that, Aira carried on to the request of Kaori. After a while, Adelfa and Keitaro arrived at the dining table with Aira who escorted them. “Is there anything we can do for you…?” asked Keitaro. Aira wondered why her fellow maids were sitting on the dining table. “Before that, Miss Aira…please sits on the chair for you…” Kaori replied and pointed at the empty chair. She did as what was commanded. “Mr. Keitaro, thanks for helping me the other day…as a thanks…can you please join me on our breakfast with dad?” she asked. Rudolph was surprised. This was the first time Kaori requested something different from all of her request. Mostly, Kaori requested for toys or other things, but today…it was so different. “But…my lady, a driver isn’t suited to sit and join the masters in their breakfast…” replied Keitaro, with his head bowed. He was so ashamed that he was speechless after his refuse. “Keitaro…go on…sit, join us…” Rudolph interrupted and asked. Keitaro wasn’t able to refuse anymore. It was the master’s request. “Dad, can I ask something for Ma’am Adelfa…?” she asked her father. “As long as it is okay, sure, why not?” “I want her to be promoted as the new manager of the household…it was so long when our maids’ boss retired right…? Please promote her…” she said. Adelfa was so shocked on what she heard. Kaori was asking her dad for a promotion…for her! Rudolph looked at Kaori’s happy face. “She was like her mother after all…they had the same heart…a heart of compassion and understanding towards others.” Rudolph smiled. “Okay, I will. As for the maids and Keitaro…shall we continue the breakfast…?” he said and smiled at all of them. “I will serve the foods…sir…” volunteered Adelfa. “Sure but after that…join us here…” Adelfa bowed humbly for the great promotion and for the goodness of the family. She went in the kitchen happily and prepared the foods. Kaori’s happy face and smile is the one which revives each of the maid’s souls. They were enlivened by happiness from their young lady. Rudolph wanted Kaori to be a professional business woman and a good music connoisseur someday. He taught her that she should always focus on her dreams and that everything of her dreams can be acquired through deep devotion on the dream and ambition she is getting. This is what he implanted to Kaori in order to become a professional someday. Kaori always concentrated after that. She remembered all her dad’s advice. It once made her only composed on her dreams and didn’t learn other’s emotions. Not until she finally realized the better side of everything. She needs love. She needs devotion. This was what she believes and she believes that her dreams will soon come to life. “Thanks father…and you too, mother. Even if I didn’t see you personally, I have read your diaries and it is the one that inspired me.” Kaori said in her mind.
