Wajir development plan on course-Governor Abdullahi The preparation of Wajir county integrated plan that has been going on for three weeks is in its last phase. Governor Ahmed Abdullahi said his government is engaging all the stakeholders to provide information, data and support for development program in the county. The public, county assembly members and NGOs have participated in the plan. Forums were held in all the six sub-counties of Wajir to help draft the plan. Abdullahi who was speaking to the press in Wajir town yesterday said the plan will help his government come with next year budget efficiently. “We believe the plan will help us make a budget that is based on the priorities of the people and deliver it effectively,” he said. Abdullahi said the county is planning to host its first international investment conference in October. He said potential investors will be invited to inquire and asses the available natural resources “The county government will set up viable investment opportunities including provision of free land to investors to create employment opportunities,” Abdullahi said. He said the county government is in the process of automating revenue collection to help raise revenue and close all the loopholes. The governor said the loopholes have made accountability in revenue collection a difficult task. He said the target projection for Wajir is more than 119 million for 2013-14 financial year. This will triple the collections by the now defunct Wajir County Council.
