Wake Board of Elections chair David Robinson states The Wake County Board of Elections neither moved nor removed a voting site from the NCSU campus this year. It has never been designated as an early-voting site in mid-term elections when the number of sites is reduced to eight. Well, for that matter Northern Regional Center, Lake Lynn Community Center, and Wake Tech Main Campus were not early vote sites in the last mid-term in 2010, but they showed up this year as early vote sites. There seems to be a Hunger Games version of election administration, that there had to be a fight between Chavis and Talley to be the 9th site (apparently the other sites survived previous gladiator rounds). It was Blacks versus Students !!! Even assuming the county could not afford a 10th site, I made a SPECIFIC proposal to the board that it use Talley as an extra site and pay for it by not starting early vote at the nine satellite sites until Friday. Wake did this sort of staggering strategy at two other elections I know of, and Forsyth and 10 other counties used that strategy this year. But students arent fooled by any of this. I personally drove 18 students today from the high rise dorms as part of a big effort to shuttle students to vote today, and THEY WERE PISSED at Mr Robinson and his BoE chairmanship. They know it was just a political game to punish students all across the state as all but one of nine campus early voting sites vanished. The 18 students were 2 Democrats and 16 unaffiliated. I think the unaffiliated would have been glad to listen to political pitches from both sides but they were all voting D. Straight down the line. Mr Robinson has a perfect strategy to lose the next generation. newsobserver/2014/10/30/4278627_david-robinson-voting-clarifications.html?sp=/99/108/165/&rh=1
