Waking up pre dawn hearing on NPR about a movie that is the story - TopicsExpress

Waking up pre dawn hearing on NPR about a movie that is the story of a gung ho ( really?) mother who enlists in the military and leaves her 5 year old son to go fight in Afghanistan. Her son turns against her and she has to look at what her decision has done. sigh. So i get up after listening to the tilted perspective to turn on KEXP so i can listen to weekend excellent programing from 6 to 9 am. Rarely can one find honest talk on radio that allows those involved in human rights issues to have voice. NPR only allows late night sporadic programing that gives an inkling that people in this country and community actually care about the human crisis all life is in. I have been rudely disrespected in my community by two men, each the visible voice of local nonprofits. I will only say that one yelled at me after i gave him legal information proving a point i was trying to make. The other tried to exclude me when i asked for his help on an issue i am working on when he succeeded in setting up a meetings with managers of a local business completely silencing my over year long efforts to find support in talking with managers. Interesting how while males with clout can feel entitled to treat me that way. It has really made me question why i remain in this community. I am deeply insulted. It furthers alienation i have already experienced witnessing the mistreatment of poor women in Vashon. These are moral issues that must be effectively addressed. I know i am not the only woman who has been disrespected by each of these men. People do talk about such things.... We have a right....
