Waldo Community Wind is committed to the health and safety of Frankfort residents, and supports the stringent DEP noise regulations. According to a 2012 analysis of the Research on the Health Effects from Wind Turbines including Effects from Noise, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention found, “there is no evidence that sound from wind generating facilities that are in compliance with Maine’s regulations directly cause health problems,” and under a 7-person expert panel that included Maine’s former State Health Officer, Dr. Dora Anne Mills, evidence suggests no association between noise from wind turbines and measures of psychological distress or mental health problems.
