Walk Through the Word Seeing Ourselves as We Truly - TopicsExpress

Walk Through the Word Seeing Ourselves as We Truly Are Luke7:24-50 The human eye is a marvel of the human anatomy. Its ability to distinguish the millions of colors in nature or calculate the depth of a meadow is beyond comprehension. It can see up close or to the far reaches of space. But it cannot see itself. All any of us will ever see of ourselves in this life is a mere reflection in a mirror. And what we do see of ourselves we do not believe. Think of a time when you have seen yourself in a photo or heard yourself on a recording. Were you surprised? Our ability to see the faults in others is seemingly flawless, but our ability to see ourselves is certainly flawed. Ask God for the grace to see yourself as you truly are, and He will lead you to have genuine remorse for your sin. Praise the Lord! How blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments. Psalm 112:1 When we come into Gods presence in worship and contemplate who He is and all He has done for us, our hearts are filled with awe and praise. He has forgiven us a debt we could never pay. We can experience a relationship with God Almighty, who is our heavenly Father. That is truly amazing! When our hearts are rightfully focused on our Lord, obedience to His Word will never be a burden. It will not be done out of sense of duty or obligation. Rather, our obedience will flow our of love and sheer delight for our Lord. When a bride walks down the aisle and says her vows to her bridegroom, she doesnt say them merely out of duty. She says her vows out of a sense of delight. She is focused on her bridegroom, and her heart is filled with love and admiration for him. Her grooms presence brings her tremendous pleasure and joy. That is how we as the bride of Christ should delight in our Bridegroom and His commands. As the bride of Christ we long to know Gods will for our lives and to draw wisdom from His instructions. We eagerly search His Words, which are so practical and relevant for every situation in which we find ourselves. Our motivation for obedience should be our great delight for Him and His Word. The psalmist wrote, How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!! (Psalm) 119:103). He could say that because of his love and admiration for the One who gave those words to him. He could trust every single word. As the bride of Christ we too should delight in our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, and obey Him out of a sense of admiration and privilege. Delight ourself in Christ!!
