Walking Past Love by design, permanence true Inherent by faith, constancy, trust How unlike its opposite....lust That fleeting passion, makes one blue Empty, cheap....sorrowful weeps Heed the obvious clue He steals away, before the dawn, To find himself a greater pawn A conquest just for pride He loved her ....Yet, he lied And all is left in ruin By which his soul has died He sends her verse, an empty curse Loves wilted flowers, fast ... For mere desire, does not last Not very long, though oft rehearsed A practiced empty end, Before the next heartache cast A wise maiden keeps on going Past all the empty knowing Seeing nothing but despair, The same scene played, On a different day A regular, revolving affair She hurries past the snare Wisdoms cast, in a cautious lass Lessons learned before pain Saying goodbye before hello She walks alone, through the rain It is a hopeless cause Thus, shell be the guest, that never was And hell be alone at the dawn For she is no mans pawn (A poem about making good choices) Poem by Lori Anderson Bunge Copyright 2014.
