Walking down Bay street today seen this guy selling these books. Started a conversation with him ;found out he wrote the books. Flipped through some of the pages and I decided to buy it. A JOURNEY FROM AFRICA TO THE BAHAMAS. Check it out.1807 The British Empire passed for the abolotion of slavery act. By this act the importation of slaves where prohibited to and from its foreign colonies. However, slave movements within the British Territories were permissible once a licence was obtained and a bound was signed. One of the most notable consequences of the abolition of the slave trade was that after 1807 any slave ship passing through British territorial waters were captured by the Royal Navy and its cargo unloaded on the nearest British Island. Many such vessels were apprehended in Bahamian waters and thus numerous cargoes of liberated Africans were landed in these Islands. These men and women boys and girls where apprenticed out and placed under the protection of the crown. So Britain wanted control of and to police slavery. Thats why they past the act, affraid of the now super wealthy in its colonies including America. Reminds me of what Dr. Clarke said, If you want a friend look in the mirror. No one has ever done anything for Africa. Africans dont owe anyone a damn thing. I think was his quote.
