Walmart Made It Right: I have waited to say anything about what - TopicsExpress

Walmart Made It Right: I have waited to say anything about what has gone on the last 4 days until it was settled so I might tell the whole story, so here it is. I went in for a routine oil change and after making arrangements for the High Milage oil and a bottle of Lukas I turned my truck over to the service center at Walmart on Platte Ave Colorado Springs, CO. After waiting and wandering around the store for about an hour, I went to see if they were getting close to finishing. I got in line with a couple of people in front of me and witnessed the department manager handing a stripped oil pan plug to the cashier and heard his instructions that service would no longer be offered to that vehicle. Sure enough that was my oil plug and AFTER I paid $72 dollars I was informed that my truck had the wrong oil plug in it and it had been destroyed getting it out. Then I was told in plain english that I would not be allowed to bring my truck back to Walmart for service. This is where I got upset and was directed to the tech that had perfomed my oil change. He quickly laid blame off on whoever did the last oil change and informed me that he forced the correct plug into my pan. He then proceeded to walk of saying Its not leaking so youll be fine completely ignoring the fact that my oil pan is now destroyed. I went out to my truck and suprise suprise there was oil on the ground under the pan. I went straight to the service desk and talked with a manager who refered me to the automotive manager (the one who told the cashier how to handle me) He was determined to talk me out of the store and even though the conversation was civil, I didnt care for the direction it was going. So I left and gave it 24 hours. When I returned the following day I met a real nice individual who already knew we might come back and he tried to send me to the automotive manager. I stood firm and told him we had already been through him and I wasnt going to talk with him again. What the automotive manager didnt know was that I was in line when he gave the plug to the cashier and I had made it a point to not indulge that information to him. After telling the whole story I was told to get an estimate and then return to fill out a claim form. I had scheduled an appointment to get a tune up and the mechanics at Brakes Plus were more than happy to look at my oil pan and print an estimate. I returned the next day and met another manager and she was just as nice to work with as the other one was. She gave me the forms which were suprisingly short then told us we should here something by Monday the 30th. So we left and I admit I thought we were in for a long fight. That all changed at 6:30pm that night, when I recieved a call from the Walmart informing me they were going to resolve the claim at store level and I could come at my convience to recieve the money neccessary for repairs. I am still in shock as I have just left Walmart, claim paid in full. I am convinced that the automotive department not only destroyed my oil pan, but they tried to cover it up and get rid of me. They could have avoided the whole thing if they had called me when the plug came out stripped (this is Walmart policy according to the managers) and let me make the decision what to do next rather than force a plug into place. Since that didnt happen Walmart had to pay for the repairs and they have done so quickly without a fight. I will not return my truck to that particular service center, but will shop at that location out of appreciation to their handling of this situation.
