Walter is a 10 year old Watusi cow born here at Living Treasures Moraine. His giant horns, which are typical of the breed, continue to grow and have caught the attention of hundreds of thousands of guests over the years. When last measured Walters horns spanned 8 feet 6 inches from tip to tip. Watusi grow these large horns for the primary purposes of self defense and to radiate heat from helping them remain comfortable in extreme heat. Watusi are a species of cattle native to Africa where many native tribes still raise them. In many tribes the worth of a man is measured primarily by how many Watusi cattle he owns.
