Walton County Emergency Management Department Public Events In order to assist the public in preparing for potential hazardous events, the Walton County Department of Emergency will be holding a series of public informational events during the month of June. These events are engineered to prompt the public to be prepared for any potential hazard, but since hurricanes and other inclement weather systems are the most likely events that will affect Walton County residents and visitors, the EM Department initiates these series of informational events just prior to and early into hurricane season. At the event, the EM Department sets up large maps that indicate storm surge areas and evacuation zones so that participants can view their respective zones. They also discuss evacuation routes and potential difficulties that may present as a result of evacuation limitations for the County. Informational brochures and pamphlets are available and include: • Preparedness activity books for children • Pet preparedness information • Info for persons with disabilities/ the elderly • Family planning information • Business preparedness • Hurricane tracking charts • Supply kit checklists Events will be held on the following dates at locations listed below: - June 4th - Publix- Santa Rosa Beach - 10:00am - Noon - June 11th - Publix- Watercolor - 10:00am – Noon - June 18th - Wal-Mart- Santa Rosa Beach - 10:00am - Noon
