Wananchi ,it is now 18 days to the 31 July 2013 although it all begins with the charade of postal voting that commences tomorrow. As a party we have expressed our concerns pertaining to the illegality and blatant fraud of tomorrow s processes.Our teams are working hard behind doors to address or mitigate the chicanery . We are working hard to ensure that Part x1v A of the Electoral Act is fully complied with.We are secure that the vote will be secret.That our security forces despite the threats will have the last laugh inside that ballot box. Evil only triumphs because good people do nothing. Autocracy and abuse of power do not happen spontaneously ,they are a process.Madness moves in ,in very small dosages.If unchecked it spreads slowly,then one day it wakes up and realizes it has conquered and captured. It is insidious . Bullies are all the same.They are cowards by another name.They threaten ,they abuse.But when you stand up to them they shrink and hide behind there mommy s skirt.They have a natural tendency to lie and they have no substance. Wananchi, it is time we make a stand .It is time that we all collectively,wether inside or outside,and all those that care about us ,Sadc and the region,said enough is enough. The time for retreat or appeasement is not now. In 2008 they had a charade of an election .We gave in to them.The GNU was a victory of impunity ,recklessness ,power retention over democracy. It is not on this time. We must roll back the times. At all materials times in the history of mankind ,impunity has been the driving force of conquest and capture. Wether it was colonial invasions in Latin America and Africa ,the first or second world wars,Afghanistan ,Rwanda,Iraq in its various mutations from the time of the Ottoman Empire ,Syria of the present ,it does not matter. When Wananchi do not protect their rights evil will triumph. Remember the Second World War. The Nazis only came to power in 1933.By 1935 they had pulled Germany out of the League of Nations,brazenly I should say.Contrary to the Versailles Treaty ,in that same year they retook the Saar region. That very same year,Mussolini ,cynically invaded Ethiopia and rewrote Ethiopian history. The following year ,the Nazis took over the Rhineland,engineered military disaster in Spain. Meanwhile on the other side of the world Japan was invading China at the same time the Nazis were invading Austria. By 1939 Czechoslovakia ,had been broken up,Italy occupied Albania and poor Poland was now at the mercy of the Third Reich s territorial appetite. Up until then the rest of Western Europe was clapping hands or complicit innocent by standers, ironically Russia alone remained the voice of reason . Evil is a by product of good people not standing up. So yesterday the Red Power machine was in Mhondoro Mubaira at a little nested village called Neuso. They were there ,the old ,the young ,the beautiful ,the uninitiated . The happy people. Wananchi , Zimbabweans too never cease to amaze. They came out in their thousands,in that cold morning. They were singing ,they were jubilant.They wore their red without fear. Often in times of crises we forget who we are .Ordinary people seeking ordinary goals so that we carry on with our ordinary and happy lives. Often times we forget that the most important thing in life costs no money at all. It is just a simple genuine smile on fat Bantu lips that just starts from the heart and is most captured in the eyes. That twinkling smile which makes some of us ugly as we are look scintillating and momentarily handsome.You know what I am talking about. So yes in Neuso we smiled and danced yesterday in our numbers. The message from Save was simple .It focused on some of the key things in our Manifesto namely 1) Governance ,Constitutionalism and the Rule of law,with strong emphasis on a caring listening State ,that has zero tolerance to corruption. 2) building a stable growing inclusive economy . With focus on macro economic stability ,industrialization,SMEs, domestic savings,attracting foreign direct investment , a sovereign wealth fund and the retention of multi currencies and dealing with the issue of sovereign debt.Implementing the Jobs plan JUICE 3)Actualizing Devolution and decentralization of the State 4)Rural development as part of a deliberate process to deal with the enclave economy ,and rural infrastructure 5) Developing a modern robust infrastructure 6) Putting a full stop to the land question,restoring the land market and security of tenure 7) ensuring food security in Zimbabwe 8) Guaranteeing social delivery in ares of health , and education 9) actualizing the right to housing,local authority delivery and the obligation of keeping our cities clean. 10) reintegrating Zimbabwe into the community of nations as an equal respectable member 11) pursuit of national healing and transitional justice 12) Celebrating gender,mainstreaming the same and actualizing the provisions on gender equality in the new constitution The people liked what they heard. This election will be vicious and cruel ,violence and shenanigans are on the increase. They will not take away our smile ,the humblest expression of things to come.The forebear of the Zimbabwe we want. What I saw in Neuso yesterday is the unbroken spirit of unbroken people eager to pursue justice and freedom. Above all to pursue happiness. They are not doing so with guns rancour or bitterness . But with big smiles on their faces. Today I will be smiling. Lets finish it off Wananchi. But with a big smile. Zikomo.
