Wanganui A&P, Makos first outing for a year, a bit rusty to start with but won 4 out of 5 classes including the 1.20m championship class. My young horses were hot on his tail with 2nds and 3rds right up to 1.20m. Really pleased with Pioneer Brass Monkey doing his first straight show jumping days and jump offs placing 2nd in the 1.15m and 3rd in his first 1.20m. Ngahiwi Makem was a little star too placing right up behind Mako in some of the classes, unfortunately just dropping the last rail in the 1.20m. Unfortunately the flat classes were running at the same time and Pioneer Canny Lad only made to two of his classes without any warm up, poor little bugger but still got a 2ndan a third. The judge really liked him and said he would have done well if he had made it to the novice classes. Kelly our working pupil did her 1st 1.10m, she had only competed to 95cm before coming here. Kelly was also our awesome photographer for the weekend. Thanks Kelly for all your help, wouldnt have got though the weekend without you. 6 horses just made us flat out all weekend. Pioneer Horses and Ponies had an awesome weekend all round the country with the most impressive being Maddy Bult and Pioneer High Jinx winning the 3*** Pony Grand Prix at Mystery Creek. Jinxy was the only clear round. Maddy has done a fantastic job with him as this is only his 2nd season show jumping.
