Wani visits Dessa region, inaugurates 26 Mtr Motorable bridge over Doda-Dessa road Laid foundation stone of 6 Km link road from Thanote to Chatroon DODA, JUNE 7:- Minister for R&B and Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Abdul MajidWani today paid an extensive visit of Dessa region of Bhagwah Block and inaugurated 26 Mtr Motorable Bridge over Gadi Nallah on Doda - Dessa road, constructed by PWD (R&B) Division Doda at a cost of Rs. 119.56 lacs. While addressing the gatherings during the visit in the region at Bhagwah, Manjmi, Thanote and Gai Dessa, Mr. Wani said that the infrastructure development process initiated by the government is showing its visible impact in rural as well as in urban areas and various backward and unconnected areas of Dessa, Bharath, Marmat, Gandoh. He said the present coalition government headed by Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah is the Government of the people and has a firm motive to connect each and every unconnected habitation with roads and other basic facilities. Mr. Wani said that the road connectivity percentage of the region during the economic survey of 2005 was just 5.6 percent and now it is about 40 percent which was only possible due to the liberal funding from the Central Government, by virtue of which the government was able to connect unconnected, hilly and backward areas with towns and cities. He said that various road projects are going on in the District while as various others are in pipeline and soon we will be able to connect every habitation with surface connectivity for the holistic development of the rural as well as urban areas. Mr. Wani also laid the foundation stone of 6 Km, Thanote to Panchayat Ghar Mehchar Link road up to Chatroon, which will be constructed by PWD (R&B) Division Doda at an estimated cost of Rs. 500 lacs. Earlier, the Minister also convened a review meeting at Doda to ascertain the physical and financial achievements made by PW, PMGSY,JKPCC and other Engineering agencies in the District. Minister directed District Administration to speed up pace of work on the Land Acquisition, Land compensation , Forest Compensation and anti-encroachment works in the District. Mr. Wani said that State Government has taken various revolutionary steps to induce transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Government establishments inpublic interest. He said coordinated and visionary approach is required for the development and upliftment of the people lining in District. DDC Doda, Mr. Mubarak Singh, Chief Engineer R&B, Mr. Tehseen Mustafa, S.P Doda Mr. Arif Rishu, ADDC Doda, Mr. G.N Balwan, ADC Doda Mr. Anil Koul, CPO Doda Dr. Yassir Balwan, ACR Doda Mr. Niraj Kumar besides other senior officers attended the meeting and accompanied the Minister during the visit in Dessa region.
