Wanna know whatll make any veterans day? So Im standing outside the laundry mat smoking a cigarette when a car pulls up with Afghanistan stickers and Marine stickers on it. A woman gets out while the male passenger waits in the car. She starts her laundry, walks back out and gets back into the car. Shortly after the passenger door opens and the male passenger calls me over. I quickly notice scars from burns all over his arms, and hes a double amputee from the knees down. The young man, who looks to be around 25 asks me if I happened to serve in Afghanistan at FOB Edi because I looked familiar. I told him yes, that I was with the STP/FRSS there. He then simply extended his arms for a hug, which I returned the embrace, and looked me deep in the eyes as his tears filled up and thanked me for saving his life. I told him Semper Fi devil dog and they went on their way. Too bad my laundry is almost done because when they come back Id love to just hang out with this warrior. Feeling amazing right now. Miss my FOB Edi family.
