Want an awesome gig working with Jewish college students for the month of March, with possibility for future part-time or full-time hire? Come work for the JDRC in Oklahoma! Do you like to travel and explore new cultures? Do you want to BE the change in communities affected by disasters? If you answered YES to any (or all) of the above, this is the ideal position FOR YOU! The Jewish Disaster Response Corps (JDRC) is a faith-based initiative that assists all communities in domestic disaster recovery while exhibiting Jewish values and promoting broad and visible Jewish participation. Since its founding in 2009 the JDRC has mobilized hundreds of Jewish students to aid in post-disaster rebuilding efforts across the United States. Overview / Responsibilities: The Team Leader for the Jewish Disaster Response Corps Spring project will be responsible for: Running the daily operations of our volunteer base camp including meal preparation, transportation to and supervision/safety on work site; Implementation of college-age appropriate educational curriculum for volunteer groups in close collaboration with Hillel professionals. Facilitation of conflict resolution and troubleshooting any last minute changes in plans. Supporting the Program Director in making the week run smoothly; Oversee groups of 15-30 Hillel college students for one week at a time. Each group will be staying with the JDRC for one week and in Oklahoma to rebuild homes destroyed or severely damaged in the spring tornadoes. Goal: The goal of this position is to ensure that volunteers have a positive and comfortable experience on the job sites at our base camp where they can relax and learn during the hours when they are not working on site. The most important aspect of the position is supporting the Program Director and being a resource for her to exchange creative ideas (no matter the time of day) and manage logistics. Term: The position will be for the entire month of March. There is potential for this to become a full time position. Applicant Requirements: Valid Drivers License, able to drive a 15 passenger van (25+), positive attitude, outgoing personality, culturally sensitive, willingness to go out of your comfort zone, leadership skills, BA (preferred) experience working with students and disaster recovery work.
